Wow it has been ages

Didnt realise it had been so long since I posted on my blog :S
I am back at work (have been for 2 weeks) and settling into the normal routine after 6 weeks hols. Didnt do a heck of an amount over the summer to be honest. Went to Glencoe for a week with the family but apart from that I just relaxed at home, pottering in the garden. I got the faerie mural finished and so is the pond and got quite a bit of various crafting done.
I started painting the kitchen but aint progressed much further with it to be honest, must try to get a bit more done this weekend as it is starting to bug me now that it looks untidy and there are no curtains up.
Anyway must go get ready for work. x

Weather aint been the best today, so didnt get any of the mural done (thought it too dodgy to start incase the rain caught me out). Got the pond filled and the edges done with small stones AND made another captured faerie. This cage was actually a free gift that Vikkie got with stuff she ordered online for us. It was delivered to me as I am going out again to visit in a few weeks. She said I could decorate it for her and I have had great fun relaxing this afternoon creating and chatting with Vikk. Just hope she likes the finished product. :)

First week of the hols, sun, gardening and outdoor craftiness

Well this is the first week of the hols and it has been great. The weather has been lovely up till now and I have been outside the majority of the day since Saturday, which I love.
Last week I made my first captured fairies, one of which aint actually in the jar yet as the jar I had wasnt big enough, but the 2nd one (Autumn fairy) just needs the lid to get decorated. I think I could become quite addicted to doing them actually.
I have been very busy in the garden, the pond is finally in situ and I started planting some stuff today, cant wait to get the pond plants though. Me and the girls decided the other day that we would do a mural on a plain bit of wall, it has been fun drawing it up and we are slowly getting it painted, although the rain today stopped play. Mal aint too happy as it is fairies but hey, I spend the most time in the garden so he will just have to live with it lol

Another afternoon crafting with Vikk ..... another banner :)

Well got up this morning and it was chucking it down AGAIN :( so had no other option but get myself down to a bit of serious crafting AGAIN :D. I managed to make another banner, I think I could quite easily get addicted to them and had lots of fun doing this one. Decided to use scraps of paper I had from my Once Upon a Springtime stack which was great as I managed to use most of the BITS up without having to sacrifice any more of the precious paper. This one is destined to Norway to Vikkie, as I had made her an envelope mini with the papers a few months ago so this will go alongside it hopefully.

Crafting today

Hiya everyone, the weather was absolutely pants today so at least I had an excuse to spend the afternoon and some of the evening crafting, (a lot of the time with Vikkie). I wasnt quite sure what I was gonna make, I had a couple of options as Vikk had bought me a dress form and a cute little suitcase to alter but in the end I decided to make a banner from flags which says SUMMER (I am living in hope that summer weather will arrive for us soon). I made it mainly from paper that had come free in crafting mags I have bought, so it was quite nice to use it up. I used citrus type colours as they seemed the most summery and in the end I was quite pleased with the way it all turned out.

Gardening News

Hi everyone, hope you are all having a lovely weekend. To let you know I am a keen gardener as well as crafter and over the summer months I am probably most likely found pottering in the garden. When we moved here a few years ago we decided that as the garden was pretty big and had very little done to it and we were basically starting from scratch we would create a veg patch, which we did. As you can see from the pics attached my veggies are doing pretty well this year again, except my peas which are a bit of a disaster. I bought another packet of seeds today so after getting tips from my Dad I will replant some tomorrow I think as it aint to late yet to do so. At our old house I had built a pond and had goldfish and the occasional frog, Mal made it extremely clear that no pond was getting built in this garden as the whole digging of the last one turned out to be a nightmare due to a huge slab of granite appearing right in the middle of the sizeable hole we were trying to dig. So huge infact we had to pay a builder to come break it up with pnuematic tools :S oopsies.... but while me n Vikk were in Edinburgh last weekend we visited Dobbies garden centre and we spied a much smaller pond which was a bit of a bargain, I couldnt resist. Anyway the long and short of it is Mal relented and I am now starting the clearing of a patch of grass so we can start excavating a hole to put the liner in. No goldfish this time though, just a more natural type of pond is on the cards and I am very excited about it and hope to attract lots of wildlife. I am a big kid at heart and love the thought of insects and small ponds creatures filling my pond by this time next year. I will show you the process as it goes along over the summer as it will def be a work in progress.

Hi everyone, just thought I would stop by to tell you all about my week with Vikkie. She arrived Monday night (well should have done :S) unfortunately her flight was delayed due to technical problems and she didnt get to Scotland till 1.30 am which meant it was almost 5 am before we drove back to ours. The next day (or should I say THAT day) was spent having a duvet day and watching films as we were both shattered. Wednesday I had work but afterwards we went to the garden centre and a bit of clothes shopping and had a fish supper (not on the beach though, a bit too chilly for that). Thursday we headed off to Aberdeen with Iona, had supper at Frankie n Bennys, bought some stuff from Hobby craft and New Look and very nearly got our feet nibbled by fishes (decided against it in the end though).
Friday me n Vikk headed off for our weekend in Edinburgh. We had a fab time, out on Friday night for a couple of drinks then next day visited a Butterfly House and the Edinburgh dungeons which were a scream quite literally, then as Vikk had an early check in Sunday morning, carry out Chinese carpet picnic, film and bed early on Saturday night. We had a right laugh and it was nice to chill out with my bestest friend.

Week not going quick enough :S

Well just a few days left now till Vikkie comes to visit again and I cant wait. I have missed her loads since visiting hers in the Easter hols and it will be so nice to spend some quality time together again. We have a few things planned - going to visit her dad, fish supper on the beach (weather permitting lol), bowling, Hobbycraft shopping and a weekend in Edinburgh and while I am at work I am hoping it will be weather that she can sit outside n chill in the garden with a book (not literally CHILL like :S)
The new papers came and I went online for inspration before cutting into them as I was slightly traumatised at the thought. I spied a YouTube

by a lady called Suzie McGuire and copied quite a bit of her album as it was so lovely. I have attached a few pages to let you all see.

Havent been blogging for a while so thought it was time to get back into the swing of it again. Has anything been happening?? hmm not much really. Havent done huge amount of crafting but I have some new paper I am waiting for (ordered them this morning) which I am gonna use to make a mini album for my bestest friend as a surprise. She has been pretty supportive lately and listened to a lot of wailing from me over various things and I want her to know how much I appreciate it. She has problems of her own to deal with and I guess I dont take them into consideration all the time, which is pretty selfish of me. Anyway this morning when I got up I went online and ordered papers I know she loves with the intention of making her an album, so I cant wait for them to arrive.
I decorated a couple of wooden letters that Vikkie sent me and I also have altered a notice board in the past week, apart from that I havent been doing too much crafting.
Vikkie is hopefully coming over in 2 weeks for 6 days but we are both a bit worried that the volcano in Iceland erupting will put a halt to our plans, I will just be keeping my fingers crossed. A big worry is that Isla wont get home tomorrow as she has been in Barcelona on a school trip and I am hoping that she gets home safe and sound according to plans tomorrow evening.

Okay I could strangle Vikkie, I blame her entirely!!!! I think I might become obsessed with these journal pages, I have done another couple and although perhaps not as nice as the first 2 at least I used my own ideas and not lifted anything from anywhere else. The next problem is I think I might just HAVE to buy more stamps to use on these pages, as I'm sure you can understand it would get pretty boring if each page has the same fonts or background images :P

The weekend

Well yesterday was National Scrapbooking Day (or so I was reliably told). Unfortunately I did no scrapbooking although I did do a couple of altered journal pages. Vikkie has been well into doing these so I thought I would give them a go to see what the fuss was about. Well it was me that ended up having the fuss lol. Being the drama queen that I seem to be, I found the whole thing a bit messy and stressful, although I was pretty pleased with the results. The first one I borrowed the idea for and adapted slightly from a youtube video done by Rach0113. Her work is amazing and her stash must be amazing too as she always seems to be using different stuff. The 2nd one includes a Delta Goodram song and I found it a lot less of a strain to do, I must be getting the hang of slapping paint about or lightening up or something.
We had a bit of a drama yesterday too as Isla ended up in A&E getting her leg glued and steri-stripped as she managed to fall and gouge quite a deep and sizeable hole just below her knee. Hopefully her birthday today will go a bit better.

I have no idea what I am gonna do next week when I have to work a whole 5 day week, what with holidays and school inservice days lately, next week is gonna be a culture shock.
This week has been pretty uneventful. Got to see the family photos we got taken the other week and I have to say I was pretty pleased with them, and many more nice ones to choose from than I thought there would be as I HATE getting my photo taken :S
On the crafting front I havent done anything since the fairy canvas. I have spent the past few days sorting out my craft supplies and thanks to a new storage box for my paper and card I have freed up a drawer and have now managed to get everything I might use in one room and not in a seperate cupboard where I tend to not look and find stuff hidden away when it is all too late. I am feeling very organised and hopefully I will get some crafting done this weekend.
Right off to work I guess :P

Feel a bit less bi-polar today :)
Anyway I was off to Hobbycraft nice and early this morning to get some art stuff for Isla's birthday. Had suggested to her I would buy an easel in an effort to blackmail her into keeping her room a bit tidier (honestly she would live in a hovel if I turned a blind eye). So on the promise that she would try harder it was decided that we would get her one. On looking yesterday online I was a tad horrified at the price and on further contemplation I decided that a free standing one might be hazardous to her bedroom carpet (I just had visions of acrylic paint splatters :S ) so today I went for an inbetweenie type one, can sit on the desk also doesnt look silly if it needs to be left on the floor (have to have my "not enough floor space when bedroom is messy" bargaining chip). I also got her some oil paints (which she has never tried before) and some palatte knives. I was really good and didnt buy much else to be honest although the acrylic stamps sets, especially the alphabets were calling out to me but I managed to resist.
This afternoon was spent crafting mostly. I altered a canvas which I am quite happy with. While I had been rummaging in my stuff I discovered sticky foam leaf shapes in autumn colours so I decided to do an autumn themed canvas (with a fairy as the focal point). Anyway here it is.

Sunday

I have nothing more inspired for the title of this post I'm afraid. Went to church as Iona was doing the bible reading, ate lunch, sunned myself on my new sun lounger (very comfy) for an hour, got help importing images for the cricut (thank you x ) made a tag or two, cooked supper and ate same, imported a pic solo and made a card. Now I am in bed as I feel like crap for the second night in a row.

Day of crafty stuff and Royal Wedding

Well I had the TV on today from just after 7am when Mal left for offshore watching the media frenzy that was the Royal Wedding. Isla came downstairs and watched with me, while she was painting a canvas for Vikkies hubby for his birthday. I suddenly decided about 10.50 while waiting for Kate to arrive at the cathedral that I hadnt actually seen Iona, so I thought I had better check she was okay as she hadnt even come down for breakfast (and that is sooo unlike her!!!) She was still curled up in bed watching the wedding too lol. I wouldnt call myself a Royalist by any stretch of the imagination but seeing all the pomp and ceremony like that always brings a tear to my eye :S
I spent quite a portion of the afternoon crafting. With Vikkies help last night and with a little bit of shouting (on Vikks part) and sulking (on my part) I managed to update my cricut so I could do more with it. So this afternoon I had a bit of a play and got a bit of coaching from Vikk (not sure if that sounds dodgy or not :S )
Anyway I made a couple more tags (yes I am still obsessed) and a 12 x 12 page which I will attach. Hopefully tomorrow I can be even more productive.

Okay I think I might have a tag obsession at the minute. It appears to be the only thing I seem capable of making just now. Also I am gonna have to get a grip of my paper/card buying. I went into my paper stash last night looking for something specific and it is quite ridiculous the paper I have and some of it has been in there for years, either because I like it lots or because I think what the hell possessed me to buy that (usually some weird patterned stuff) anyway "Note to self" ....... MUST use up some of the crap before buying new AND I have to stop buying stamps my storage box is getting pretty full and it aint a small box !!!! :O Best not get my hubby started on the ribbon box either :S oops - mind you I blame Vikkie for that completely ;) she got me fired up one day while we were online shopping and I kinda got carried away. So the long and the short of it is my purse should really be kept hidden from me for the foreseeable future me thinks.
Isla's 14th birthday is coming up in just over a week and I have no idea what I am gonna get her. Possibly art supplies as she is right into her painting and drawing, she aint having a party this year, just a sleepover with friends. Last year she had a murder mystery party set in the Wild West, I had great fun making backdrops to hang up and organising costumes for me and the girls so this year seems a bit of an anti-climax. I love hosting parties for the girls (especially with a theme and fancy dress) I get right into it.
Oh geez look at the time again. Have to get up and at them at least |I have a long weekend to look forward to and I intend spending lots of time scrapping and relaxing as I still feel I am recovering after been ill last month.

Another week over since last I blogged

Where are the day, weeks, months going at the moment. I cant believe another week has gone by. I was crafting tags this week but unfortunately I left my camera at school the end of last week so didnt get pics of them before posting them in various parcels to Vikkie. I might make some more over the weekend as Vikk is gonna give me lessons on my cricut as I feel I aint using it to its full potential.
Me n Mal had a wedding on Sunday, which was nice if not just a little bit weird and emotional. Angharad had been due to marry a close friend of ours but on his stag weekend with other biker friends he was tragically killed, so although we are obviously delighted to see Ang happy it was a day full of contemplation for us and a few others there.
Anyway hopefully i shall have crafty stuff to share next time but must run as I have to get ready for work xx

Gardening and crazy cat

Hi folks, I have been out in the garden for a little while each evening this week as it has been so nice. The veg patch is filling up - my dad gave me onions and shallots to plant in exchange for some seeds I gave him. So far I have peas, mangetout,broad beans, rocket, 2 types of lettuce, radishes, parsnips, onions, shallots and leeks. It gets exciting when the shoots start to show as they are just now :) I love gardening anyway (always have done) but it is so satisfying to grow your own food and it feels great being able to go out and pick what you want. The garden is starting to feel more like my own now. When we moved here a few years ago it was in a bit of a mess,( obviously the previous couple werent gardeners) and although we had the big garden I have always wanted, it broke my heart to leave the old house as I had the garden there the way I wanted with a pond and all sorts. Now we have a few beds with shrubs n flowers although I would like a lot more. Definately a work in progress.
Now for the crazy cat bit lol - one of our neighbours down the street on the opposite side has a cat which since we moved in here our 2 cats absolutely hate!! Mickey comes quite regularly to visit and even has the audacity to sit on the window sill and actually bang on the window with his paws to wind our 2 up. My windows end up a right state and how my window blinds have survived is a mystery. Merlin spends a lot of time in the evening on Mickey watch, usually he sits on his hind legs upright like a meerkat does on sentinal duty looking down the street for him and we have tried on many occasions to catch him on camera doing it. Well the other day he spied Mickey down the street but unfortunately my car was a bit too far up the drive for the meerkat stance to be any use so he ended up completely upright on 2 legs propping himself up against the window, we just had to get him on camera!!
On the crafting front i think I have lost my mojo a bit :( apart from a 12 x 12 page I did for Vikkie featuring a pic we took of the 2 of us when I was over at hers I havent done any and I am thinking of tidying eveything away for over summer. hmmm we will see. Anyway better go I am away to talk to Vikk for a bit :)

Oh well first day back at work been and gone and guess what........ it feels like I have never been away :P
I had a nice weekend pleasing myself in the garden, I worked really hard and even managed to drag hubby out to do the really heavy stuff (which is a miracle as the only gardening he does is the mowing!!) I got the veg patch pretty much planted up just a few things to do and lots and lots of pruning of trees and bushes which was desperately needing done. It was a beautiful weekend and on Sunday I even dusted off my shorts n vest :O. The cats had a lovely weekend too sunning themselves out in the garden, keeping me company.
I was a bit reckless too and on a visit to the garden centreyesterday I treated myself to a lovely fairy which I had spied the week before. I decided she was too beautiful to be subjected to the Scottish weather so she has pride of place on my stairs.
Well (thinking of my stomach as usual!!!) I better go make dinner x

Grey skies today :(

Well after the wonderful warm weather at the weekend we are back to grey skies today. It looked lovely out yesterday too but was really cold, so I holed myself up inside and did a little crafting. Looks like the same could be on the cards for today as I dont think it can make up it's mind whether it will rain or not. When I was in Norway I got a couple of wooden letters and Vikk gave me the word LOVE, so the other day I had a go at altering them and I have to say I was really happy with the way they turned out. The V and T I actually covered with body glitter that the girls had lying about that never gets used (not that I dont have glitter mind you but I just liked the colours) I had to spray my initial with charcoal fixative spray though as there was a black residue coming off to touch. The LOVE i just smothered in glitter - what fun and what a mess I made :) Not sure what I will do today I did start an envelope mini but I quite fancy doing some 12 x 12 pages for a change, havent done in a while. Anyway better get up I am still dossing in bed, just the kind of grey day for doing that.

Back in Scotland

Hello all, here I am back to the usual routine of daily life after my jaunt to Norway to see Vikkie. I had a lovely relaxing time, shopping, touristy stuff and a little bit of crafting. I think Vikkie was probably glad to see me go on Friday so she could get a rest AND get her bed back. I am very proud of myself for managing the solo travelling and the hire car not that I didnt have a few moments of worry and panic.
I think Vikk enjoyed having me over (well I hope she did) I know I can be hard work (but she does know that anyway lol) but hopefully I wasnt too stressful :S
I am hoping to go out in the summer for a week, so fingers crossed that works out. I might go price flights today at some point.
I will be out to the garden today again I think. I am trying to get the veg patch planted up. I got a fair bit done yesterday - 4 rows of parsnips, 2 rows lettuce (different varieties) 2 tripods of peas, a row of garden canes with broad beans and a row of spinach. I bought leek seeds and spring oinions oh and sweetcorn. I havent tried growing them before so we will see how that goes.
Hopefully I will catch up with Vikk online today too as we seemed to keep missing each other yesterday which was very frustrating. Anyway better go cats need breakfast and so do I :)

OMG well everyone I am doing tomorrow what I have never done before :p It has taken me 41 years !!!! Sad I know but tomorrow I am travelling ALONE :O to Norway to visit Vikk and I am SOOOO EXCITED!!! (How sad is that pml)
Hopefully we will have a fab time and get some crafting done together. I am hoping for plenty photos I can scrap when I get home.

Where has the week gone?

Wow it has been almost a week again since I left a post on here, no idea where the time goes. Havent been up to much, still taking is easy and it will be the official school hols on Friday so I will get another couple of weeks rest before going back to work.
I did manage to get another envelope mini made. I bought the Once Upon a Time stack along with the Mariposa papers, my intention was to split the packs in half with Vikkie (only 6 days now till I fly over to visit - soooo exciting). I couldnt resist making her an envelope mini though. I like this one better than last weeks one, i think cause I made it slightly differently and kept each envie separate and didnt stick any of them together. This makes it sit better I think, anyway see what you all think.
I was hoping the weather would warm up a bit this week as I have veg seeds I wanted to start planting but it was a bit too chilly to be bascially sitting around at the weekend. I need to do a bit of shopping today for things to take across to Norway so I dont know if I will get much done but we'll see.
Anyway best go have brekkie, shower n stuff.

Wow it has been ages!!!

Hello everyone, I havent been blogging for a while as I havent been very well :( I am on the mend now, it will just take a little while to pick up completely but the jist of it was I ended up getting a blood transfusion last Friday as I was hideously anaemic :O
The past couple of weeks, even though I was off work I aint really had the energy or concentration for crafting and it has only really been the past couple of days that I have felt much in the crafting mood. Anyway I have posted a few pics of my newest envelope mini album made with the Mariposa papers from DCWV. I love these papers and it took a lot of nerve to cut into them. I am happy with the result although the pics were taken before a lot of the photo mats and tags were made so it looks barer that it actually is.
The other thing that has happened in the past few weeks is Vikkie's laptop had pretty much died on her so that has put paid to our daily crafting together. It has been really hard and quite stressful on both of us but at least I only have another week or so to endure before I actually fly out to see her for a week. I am getting very excited about it, especially now that I am on the mend again (thankfully).
Hopefully I will get plenty crafting done in the next week as I am signed off work till the Easter hols.

What a week

Well I have had a pretty good week all in all. I am chicken sitting for 3 weeks for my neighbours a few doors down (yes i did say CHICKEN sitting) and I am loving it. I have always wanted chickens and when we moved to our present house a few years ago I was seriously contemplating it as we had a big garden. Mal kinda disuaded me and a veg patch was created instead but I am having so much fun this week mucking out, feeding and collecting eggs I am seriously considering it again. We will see how thisng pan out. Also I got a beautiful present from Vikkie (and Pete) I am soo delighted with it. They bought me a necklace just like the one Arwen wears in the Lord of the Rings (the one she gives to Aragorn) It is gorgeous. I have wanted one for so long ( I have an elvish brooch - the ivy leaf one and Vikkie bought me the one ring) and have hinted to Mal for yonks and he hasnt taken me up on it so it was so thoughtful of Vikk to get me it and I cant thank her (them) enough. I will treasure it. I am hoping I have a busy weekend of crafting and will keep you all posted with what goes on. I am hoping tomorrow is as nice as it has been all week so I can get out to the garden to do a bit of clearing up. It makes me feel so much happier when I can get out in the fresh air and get a bit of sunshine. Best go shut the chickens in for the night xx

Wall hanging

Hi folks, I have managed to get a bit of crafting done this weekend. Havent had much chance to speak to Vikkie though as she hasn't been feeling the best of late. So to cheer her up a little I decided to make a wall hanging to send to her to keep the one she made company. I dont have a craft room as such, as it is our office cum spare room so I dont get the chance to decorate my crafting area the way I would do if it was my designated space. I hope she likes it - it turned out a bit too pink I think lol. But it is nice and bright so hopefully it will cheer her up. I have missed her the past few days :(

Accordian Album for Vikkie

Hi everyone, nothing much to report really, the weekend has been and gone already and back to work all too soon :( I had a pretty good crafting weekend though, Vikkie had bought me the Immortal Love stack as part of a Valentines pressie and it came the end of last week so I was determined to do something with it. It was a bit of a wrench cutting into the papers but I managed it lol I decided to make an album for Vikkie and her hubby with a couple of their wedding pics in it. I had been promising to make something like that for them for ages and never got round to it or had the inspiration to do it. Well the week from hell is over, apart from the excitement of prom and the fact I only had to work a 2 day week, this week aint been the best. I havent done very much crafting, me and Vikkie have hardly talked and when we have it has been a strain due to one thing or another. We are very very alike and it can cause fireworks sometimes :S but we do try to cope with one anothers foibles (for that is what friends do). I know nothing will come between us though and no mater what I love her to bits. Anyone hopefully this weekend will be nice a relaxed and I can get plenty crafting done.

The weather here is miserable here today, cold wet and windy - YUK!!! A good day for crafting though. It was my Dad's birthday yesterday and for a change I made his birthday cards. Actually it was needs must as I forgot to buy any on Thursday :S I was really chuffed with them so I am now inspired to make one today for Sophie (Islas's friend) as she is 14 tomorrow. I will add a pic of the cards for my Dad just now.
Anyway I am off upstairs to start crafting as I am wasting precious time. xx

Not the best day :(

Well this is the last day of the holiday weekend and I have work again tomorrow :P It aint been the best day to be honest. I have had too much time on my hands alone and been really fed up. Normally a day like this would have been spent having fun with Vikk but she has been ill today and apart from 15mins while I was cooking tea I havent seen her today. We have txtd one another a little but she has been in bed most of the day. Hope she feels much better soon, it aint nice that I cant even go and visit her and give her a big hug to make her feel better - just one of the many downsides to her living so far away from me :(
I made a tag holder out of a blank greetings card yesterday so I have attached the pic so everyone can see.

Prom!

Well the day has finally arrived Iona (my eldest, 16) has her first prom night. The dress has been bought for months, shoes and bag bought the other week. I was expecting there to be high stress levels today but surprisingly she was pretty calm, just a slight bit of strain over the time she had left to play with after getting her hair done, which wasn't much .... she had to get her make-up on, dressed, Alistair (her partner for the evening) arriving and going to friends house before going to school for the official photos. When Alistair arrived he looked very smart in his kilt and he had brought her a beautiful corsage to match her dress and his kilt. It was like they were being papped lol me, my dad n Alistairs mum all had cameras and we snapped away. Not sure when I will see her getting in as she has planned to go to an after prom party at a friends house. I am gonna try to stay up, not sure if I would settle properly anyway, but Vikkie as agreed to keep me company for at least a little while. x

Another card and a tag book

I have made yet another card, which I am really pleased with. I have also made a tag book but I aint happy with it at all :( Vikkie challenged me to use papers we had bought together to decorate it with but I found it really hard to get much inspiration. This def aint my best effort at a tag book but hey ho it is done and I can get it posted to her along with a few bits a pieces. Sitting talking to her on MSN just now as hubby is watching Top Gear so I sign out now and not neglect her xx.

I had a lovely day yesterday crafting with Vikkie, we had lots of fun and chatted lots, hopefully today will be just as good. Anyway I have attached a pic of my 2 latest cards I have made and also a layout I have done for a competition on Elsa at justafewdesigns.blogspot.com We had to use her picture of Abbie that she created on a layout or card, so this what I came up with. Hope she likes it. Anyway must go Vikk is helping through yet another technophobic (dunno if that is a word) crisis. x

Long Weekend to look forward to :)

Thank the Lord for this long weekend - I feel exhausted. I dont think I have fully recovered from last weekend (sign of old age or something) and on top of that I had to have a tooth extracted on Tuesday which I found rather traumatic!!! I think I would rather have a 3rd Caesarean than go through that again :P

Anyway not much else to share really as I have done very little crafting. I had Isla's parents night at school on Tuesday which went well and Iona has her last Higher prelim today so she can finally relax for a little (well at least till after Easter when she will sit the real thing) Next week will be major excitement as she has prom, so I will post pics for that on Wednesday. In the mean time I have added pics of the cards I made for Vikkie for one of our challenges. Must go get ready for work instead of wasting time on here and hopefully I will get plenty crafting and me time over the weekend - can't wait. Hugs x

Hectic Weekend

Well I have had a pretty eventful weekend so far. To let you understand I am very very rarely out for nights out and apart from my birthday weekend with Vikk I cant remember the last time I was out. This weekend I have been out Friday AND Saturday. Friday night I was out with a few people from work, bowling, meal and round a few of the local bars. Unfortunately after my abstenence on the alcohol front I fell off the wagon a tad lol and boy did I suffer all day Saturday!!! I ruined my afternoon crafting with Vikk as I had to abandon that and go to my bed for a few hours just to try to feel human enough to even contemplate going out on Saturday night. Me and Mal had an evening out with a guy Mal works with and his wife in Aberdeen. I was NOT drinking :P I think today it will be Mals turn to suffer a bit (hehehe) Anyway we had a lovely evening sitting chatting and the food was excellent. I had a scallop starter then halibut main and a chocolate pudding dessert mmmmm. I am intending taking today very easy and doing lots of crafting.
Vikk sent me lots of lovely cards to open and I have a few craft challenges she has given me to complete so hopefully I will get plenty done and lots of time to sit and chat with her as this week we havent been able to spend much time together. :( I just have to try to restrain myself from opening ALL the cards at once (the intention was that I would have one to open every day).
Anyway I am away to print off some pics n stuff for my crafting session. xx

Monday morning blues

Yuk Monday morning AGAIN!!!! Where does the weekend disappear to that is what I would like to know. Well I had and uneventful Sunday mainly because I was soooo tired. Isla had a sleepover on Saturday night with a friend who has never stayed over before. I have a sneaky suspicion she may be allergic to cats as she coughed the whole night (and for someone like me who is a light sleeper that aint a good thing). The only good thing that came out of being awake in the early hours was that I got to chat to Vikkie online (she was still up as she had been taking part in a mini album tutorial online). Did a little crafting on Sunday afternoon. I chose a few themes for me n Vikkies scrapbook challenge so I did a 12 x 12 page for that on the theme of The Green Fairy, other pages to be completed are Where you would like to visit, Passion and Tattoos, there is another one that is escaping me at the minute. I have to drive to Aberdeen this afternoon as Isla has an Orthodontist appointment so all go. Iona has another Higher prelim today, PE so she will no doubt be slightly hyper when she gets up, hope she does well as she works very hard to achieve her goals. I will attached pics of the card I made on Saturday and the 12 x 12 page and I guess I had better start getting myself organised. No rest for the wicked as they say. Hugs x

Saturday Crafting

Well I was going to accomplish great things today but havent gotten much done really. I spent the morning catching up with some housework and made some soup for lunch so I could spend the afternoon online with Vikkie crafting. Apart from making a Valentines card which I will upload soon I didnt do much else. We ended up just chatting and showing each other dodgy photos from the past (well to be fair mine turned out to be dodgier on the hair and attire front than Vikks though pml). I havent opened any of the new papers we bought together infact the other day I completed a page to send to Vikkie for our ongoing scrap challenge and she was calling me all the tight miserable Scottish witches as I could only bring myself to cut up the front cover of one of the packs (you know what I mean? the paper on the front which gives you a taster of what the papers are like) Well I thought I was being thrifty NOT mean :) I might get something done later though. Soon be supper time and me n food have a very close relationship :) Mind you I was very pleased today as I went on the Wii Fit (the first time in yonks) and I had lost 6lbs (all down to me cutting out booze) I am very very pleased with myself. Anyway Vikkie is trying to talk to me on MSN so I had better go give her attention or she will sulk (I'm only saying this as I know she will be on reading this shortly muhahahaa!!!) Loves ya Vikk xx

Only a week???? :(

It has only been a week since Vikkie went home and it already feels like a month. I havent had much time for crafting but hope to get something done this weekend. Youngest daughter has had a stomach bug this week but is on the mend and elder daughter has her first Higher prelim today so she has been studying hard. I have only had one good thing happen this week .......... I have booked flights and a hire car to go see Vikkie and her hubby in April. I am sooooo excited, although I am sure nearer the time I will be feeling hysterical as this is the first time I have ever been abroad all by myself (a bit sad I know considering I am 41). It will be weird not having the family with me but it will be good for me to escape for a few days and have a bit of me time without the others interrupting. Anyway I had better go as it will soon be time to start the morning routine ....... see to the cats (litter trays n food), gee up the girls, hang up the washing and get myself organised for work. Roll on Saturday :)

Well here I am again. Vikkie went home yesterday :( Hubby took her through to the train when he went to work and I had a good cry until it was time to go to work. We spent a lovely few days together, especially at the weekend. When Vikk arrived we came straight home here as she was shattered after travelling all day. On Saturday we drove into Aberdeen and hit the shops. By the time we had finished both of us had sore feet and really tired. After getting ready at the hotel we headed out to the Chinese for a meal, as it was still pretty early and we really had to pace ourselves, we decided to not hit the bars so early and went back to the hotel to watch a film. We then headed out later. We had a great night it was so lovely to spend quality time just the two of us. After getting home, Sunday was spent doing a bit of crafting and I made Vikk a Christmas dinner although our Scottish stuffing and my take on trifle were both a bit alien to her lol. Unfortunately I had work on Monday and Tuesday but we spent as much time as possible sitting chatting when I got home. I am gonna miss her so much even though we see each other every day. Anyway better think about getting organised for work, bye all x

Tomorrow is my 41st birthday (How can that have happened, can I really be 41??) but for once I am really excited about it being my birthday :) I can't wait to meet Vikkie at the train station, hopefully the next 5 days will be as much fun as we have been anticipating. It is gonna be so nice just to spend proper time together crafting and chatting not via MSN like we normally do. I just wish my best friend didnt live so far away. Anyway off to work soon, hope the day passes quickly. xx

I havent been on for a couple of days so thought it was def high time I updated the blog (not to mention Vikkie was nagging me!!! ) Have done very little crafting the past couple of days as we went to stay with friends on Saturday night. Had a very late night for me (2am) so was really tired when we got home yesterday. I did do the next LO in the challenge me n Vikkie have going. We decided upon the theme "10 things I love about you" I have the page done except the 10 things which I havent typed up yet, I aint fond of my handwriting so I generally type stuff. As the title of today says "4 more sleeps" I am getting really really excited now about Vikkie coming over. She is arriving in the evening so we will go out for food then decide from there where we are going. I am toying with the idea of getting another tattoo while she is over but cant decide where to put it, we both got the last time she was here in October - elvish writing which says friendship and I got a butterfly alongside the writing. I would really like a faerie and have seen a couple I like, but I guess it will depend if I can get an appointment. Oooh Oooh - big excitement today as another box of stash arrived for me n Vikk to share. We have kinda ordered a crazy amount of paper but we know it will get used. Hiding it from hubby might be an idea lol although I did warn him and also told him I didnt need a birthday present as I had kinda treated myself. Anyway I guess I better go sort food out for the troops. x

Well Friday already, a 3 day week is the way to go I reckon lol. Pretty tired today actually and glad it is the weekend. Didnt get home from the Thin Lizzie concert till midnight so was very V tired this morning getting up for work, made all the more annoying that hubby got to lie in his bed as he took the day off work - grrrr. I had to rush to get my neice a birthday pressie today at lunch time (she is 13 today n it kinda slipped my mind - oopsies) It was annoying as I couldnt get home at lunch to talk to Vikkie which is the usual routine for a week day. I didnt get a chance to talk to her at all yesterday due to one thing or another so I am waiting patiently just now for her to finish her tea so we can catch up. Only 7 days till she arrives for a 5 day visit for my birthday, can't wait. I can't believe it is a whole year since I turned 40 (yuk), why does time seem to run away with you as you get older?? Going to visit friends tomorrow afternoon which kinda ruins me n Vikks crafting day a little, although as we aint leaving till 3ish hopefully we will get some crafting time, I havent had a chance to make anything since the Vampire LO which is a shame n me just got my scrapbooking mojo back lol. Anyway must go as Vikk has just let me know she will be available to chat shortly. Hope everyone has a good weekend x

Big excitement today (other than being first day back at work :P) some of the stash me n Vikkie ordered arrived. Pic will be attached. No other news really as excitment knows no bounds regarding craft supplies and after being back at work for 2 hours feels like I haven't had 2 weeks hols. Just cant wait for the next lot of papers to arrive and some acrylic stamps too. Wont have time to blog tomorrow as me n hubbie are going to a Thin Lizzie concert tomorrow night so c u all on Friday. xx

Oh Darn it the last day of the holidays, not good!!! :( It seems like ages since I was at work as we got 2 extra days cause of a huge fall of snow we had (it is very unusual for us). I have had such a lazy holiday too (which has been great to be honest) because I havent been feeling the best due to a cold I just havent been able to shift. It has been good though from a crafting point of view. I was online with Vikkie yesterday as usual and I got my new scrapbook challenge, it was a choice between Fantasy or Dreams (it was a hard choice to make) but I went with Fantasy. I am pretty pleased with the way the page turned out but on hindsight I wish I had done the THE for The Dragon in black too. Might pop back on later if I have done anymore crafting today xx

Scrapbooking bug is biting again :)

Well I took the Christmas tree down first thing this morning and we have decided to put it in the skip as it is starting to get rather bald (we have had it for 17years) so I will be on the hunt for a new one now. Have spent most of the afternoon finishing my next scrapbook page that Vikkie is challenging me daily to do. She gives me the choice of 2 themes and I choose one to scrap. It has been quite good as it has got my brain working a bit harder and at least I dont need photos, I can just use pics from the web if need be. Plus I am using up some of my stash which is just as well as the 2 of us have ordered HEAPS of stuff to share out when she comes over next week - yeah NEXT WEEK!!!! I am so looking forward to having her here, it is not nice having your bestest friend so far away (in another country) even though we do chat every single day. So back to the scrapbook pages - yesterdays challenge I chose was "Native Americans" and todays one was "Inpiration", I will add both pics to the bottom of this post. Anyway I am gonna leave it here as I am online with Vikk just now and I aint giving her my undivided attention lol.

I have had a pretty dull day today. Havent had any crafting time and worse than that I havent seen Vikkie today. We talk to each other everyday and it feels very strange when we dont :( My mum came to visit this afternoon with my Great Aunt, who is staying with her for a few days, so that scuppered my plans slightly. I got the scrapbook page done last night. Not the LOVE one as it is gonna be done for Vikkies scrapbook challenge on her blog, Vikk suggested I do a page about US which I have done. I packaged up some handmade stuff for her today which I will get posted tomorrow. I made her a Faerie folklore mini album as she is mad about faeries and also a concertina folder with ATC's in it (also faerie themed). I am gonna go try to get photos of all these on her to let everyone see - so wish me luck x

Have spent a lovely afternoon online with Vikk. I had a bit of a clear out yesterday to make room for some new stash me n Vikk have ordered. So decided to clear out the drawer that houses all my stickers and rub on etc today(it was A MESS!!!!) as I have no idea what I have and things are starting to get tatty. Vikkie suggested sorting them into poly pockets so I can store them in a ring binder. Now I feel very organised and at least if I want something I will know where to look rather than rummaging. After doing the sorting I was a bit shocked at how much stuff I actually have, I need to start back scrapbooking me thinks to use up some of my stash. Vikkie has given me a challenge to make a scrapbook page about LOVE just to try to get my creative juices flowing again. I will let you see how it turn out when I get it done.

Oh well here goes nothing. The start of a New Year and I have (in a moment of madness) decided to start a blog!!! My best friend Vikkie reckons I should become a bit more reckless (not sure if this counts or not lol). Anyway if I cant beat her I might as well join her! I'm not sure what I will have to tell anyone that will be remotely interesting but we will see.
